American engineer Ben Kouks (Ben Kokes), intending to offer his hand and heart of his girlfriend, fashioned wedding ring with a resonant transformer and three small LEDs among gems. The idea is that the ring bride glows when the groom takes her hand.
Under the cut process of creating 12 pictures.
The entire process is documented in the blog author. First of all, the project created in AutoCAD for 3D-modeling: you have to calculate that after the addition of details ring came right inner diameter sizes of stones and grooves for them, as well as the distance between the grooves.
Ring the proper diameter machined from titanium ingots.
Drill made recesses for gems
The blank is cut and polished
Then gently stick the stones.
To make the backlight, the author realized the resonant transformer which performs wireless transmission of energy between the two coils, each of which is incorporated in the oscillating circuit at near resonant frequencies. Ben Kouks introduced into the ring copper coil with a capacitor connected in parallel to the circuit three LEDs. C to 820 pF capacitor resonant frequency was 1, 5 MHz.
Coil transmitter with power supply groom should wear on his arm. The design of the transmitter borrowed here. The device went pretty massive, but it still can be discreetly hidden in the sleeve.

All the work the author has taken five months from January to May of 2013. It has been tested several options for mounting the stones and the thickness of the ring. Many test versions had to throw the ring.
