Horten Ho IX, or as it is called Gotha Go 229, Horten brothers started to be developed 80 years ago. And if now the planes Stealth - a common thing, then it seemed incredible and fantastic.
About five years Reimar and Walter Horten just marking time until they are called upon to cooperate with the Luftwaffe - the German air force. This happened in 1936. Before that engineers worked under the patronage of the youth program of the Nazi Adolf Hitler. The main idea of the brothers was the fact that the shape of the aircraft "flying wing" - in the absence of perfect aerodynamic fuselage and tail. After lengthy proceedings, in 1943, the first probe up into the air, in the strictest secrecy. However, it is used for communication. Only in the first day of spring 1944 in Germany rose in the sky the first prototype with a pair of jet engines, four 30-mm cannons MK-108 and the ability to carry two bombs of 500 kg each. During the work on the project, a team of engineers led by brothers Horton has created six aircraft, of which, as you know, only two were able to climb into the sky. The network has pictures of the aircraft, which was in 1945 forwarded by US forces in the United States. Below that you will see a copy of the Horten Ho IX, created for the film, with the support of the channel National Geographic.
