Discovered a new mammal species in Papua New Guinea
Participants of the scientific expeditions to Papua New Guinea caught on camera previously unknown mammals. One of the detected animal is very similar to a small kangaroo, the second beast is very similar to the rodent, and the third – on the marsupial badger. This was told by one of the participants Y. Ritchie, who works in Deakin University in Melbourne. Any information about these animals not contained in any Handbook or other scientific literature.
Scientists have studied the jungle, located in the mountain range of Torricelli, which is located in the northwestern part of New Guinea. They set up 40 cameras around the test section. Initially, the expedition was sent to capture a rare species of tree kangaroo. But, instead, was discovered unknown mammals.
Now, scientists will need to go back to Papua New Guinea to try to catch and study the animals discovered.
