Salt plains and lakes of Uyuni
Salt plains and lakes of Uyuni (Solar de Uyuni) occupy an area of more than 1200 km. sq. In these vast salt fields there are various optical illusions and mirages caused by the reflection of the boundless sky in salt water and lake evaporation. Uyuni salt lake formed as a result of the drying of a prehistoric sea that covered once southwestern Bolivia. After evaporation of the sea is a few lakes (Uyuni, Poopo, Uru Uru, Koipasa). In the center of this vast desert formed a large number of rocky islands covered with huge cactus (up to 8 m in height) and outlandish colors. Salt water lake changes color depending on the lighting. This place - a paradise for lovers of photography.
