In addition to American photographers witnessed the flight of these magnificent animals. Jumping out of the water stingrays flapping their huge fins like wings. According to photographers, they soar up so that really creates the illusion of real flight.
— The sea devils, which is also called MobileMe (mobula) that are able to jump out of the water to a height of 1.5 to 2 meters, and sometimes higher — said Cindy Bonish, and are able to fabricate in the air real pirouettes and flips. Interestingly, scientists still cannot find the exact explanations of these incredible flights.
Some argue that such a "flight" is part of the courtship ritual, while others believe that it is one of the types of hunting, and still others suggest that the way rays get rid of parasites. There is also a version that mabulu just having fun, spreading your fins, wings and soaring over the water or the other members of the pack, showing, thus, their strength and superiority.
Incidentally, the swing fins are up to 3.5 meters! — When a huge number of mabul floats together, one gets the impression that the sea is covered with some kind of magic carpet, and when they soar in the air — I think this is some rare species of birds, their impression of the couple are photographers.
— Unfortunately, these wonderful marine animals are endangered species. Their number is rapidly declining due to many factors, one of which is industrial fishing. Very sorry if the flying sea devils disappear from the face of the earth, says Pat Bonish.
— We are happy that we managed to capture this spectacular natural phenomenon, although it was not easy, as their rapid jumps, and the place of "departure" — unpredictable, — said the photographer. –We have never seen anything like that before.
— In fact – much easier said than done. But fortunately, our photographic experience did not disappoint us and we did it! This is truly a magnificent sight!
