Interesting about Koalas
From the moment when the first koala has been described in detail by scientists in one of the Australian media was exactly 210 years. So I want to tell you many interesting facts about these animals.
Koala lives in the coastal areas in the east of Australia. The first settlers on the continent gave this "wild animals" different names, including: "sloth", "monkey", "bear" and even "medvedeobezyana", apparently trying to draw an analogy with familiar to them European animals. Yet he left a name, inherited from ancient Aboriginal Avtralii, - koala, which means "animal that does not drink the water".
In fact, in our time cataclysms that occur in the forests of forest fires - koalas often come to the people of the water as occurred during the fires in Australia in 2009.
Thus, the size of the adults reached 80 centimeters, and the weight can be up to 15 kilograms.
The newborn koala so small that it weighs only 3-5 grams! Only a few weeks later it grows to the size of a human finger.
And the first 6 months of the baby spends mostly in the "mother's bag," as his compatriot kangaroos, koalas because - it is also marsupials.
Physiology of them is that the thick short tail helps to sit firmly on the tree for hours, and the structure of the clutches ensures easy and safe movement on the branches of trees. And in other subjects too ...
Koala bear is not a bear! In fact, the word "bear" in the determination of these small animals is only added because of their external similarity, and a koala in no way linked to the "bear" family.
Although, of course, the absence of a tail with relatively long legs attached to the mammal a great resemblance to the bear.
As we have said, the koala does not drink water, but consume plenty of fluids, chewing on eucalyptus leaves.
And they did not have time for games and entertainment - the whole day is spent on rest and sleep, which lasts for 20 hours a day! But you have to eat, and before that to find something to eat, moving from tree to tree, and with the night, in the dark, as our heroes today are nocturnal.
It is not to communicate with their own kind, - "no social life"!
But, by the way, in spite of its slow and clumsy appearance, koalas to quickly jump from one tree to another.
And swim well when they have to flee from danger or simply freshen up.
Males koalas really do not like to meet with other males, they are trying to scare the opponent, apparently, on this picture, and often fight for their possession of eucalyptus.
And some koalas warlike behavior is well, very surprised!
