Nudibranchs

Nudibranchs look like garden slugs, but are bizarre outgrowths and painted in subtle tones of bright colors. Unlike other mollusks have no shell, but that does not mean that animals are vulnerable to enemies: their body is often covered with nasty mucus and the skin contains numerous glands secreting poisonous substances, scaring predators.

The bright coloring and extravagant as it warns of the presence of such a chemical protection. And if you decide to fish or crab still enjoy nudibranchs, they can give a rebuff stinging capsules found in the dorsal outgrowths of the body. It is interesting that such weapons shellfish borrows from sea anemones and hydroids, some kinds of nudibranchs eat these animals, but retain their stinging cells, which are for the protection of another organism.

Nudibranchs are very strict in the selection of food. Their diet is unusual, but monotonous: only some species feed on sea anemones, others - sponges, and others drink only the juice of certain algae.

The economic activity of man, these animals do not play any role, but the meeting with them under water brings aesthetic pleasure.
