What do you need to know for those who have received a gift or bought a Christmas Poinset for themselves? First of all, it is a tropical plant, an evergreen shrub, native to Mexico or Central America.

Often in our homeland, the flower immediately dies after flowering, but if you make a little effort, you can save the life of the plant, making it a perennial.

How to Save Poinset
  1. When the leaves of the plant begin to fall, you should immediately reduce watering and stop feeding. The next step is to cut the stems of the flower (about 15 centimeters above the soil level). Next, place the pot with the plant in a dark cool place and leave there until May. Poinsettia needs a period of rest after flowering.

  2. With the onset of May, it is necessary to take the pot with poinsetia to a well-lit place and resume watering. Also, to achieve lush flowering in the future, you can use mineral fertilizers. When the flower grows, it is important to transplant it into new soil.

  3. To stimulate the laying of buds in the plant, from the beginning of October you need to carry out the following manipulations: every night you should place the flower in a drawer or closet for at least 14 hours.
