Students from California printed smart mirror

Students of the University of California in San Diego have figured out how to turn any tablet into a Foundation for smart mirrors. It turned out the mirror, which recognizes faces, understand body language, and serves as a "home" for your virtual assistant, Alexa.





Students printed on a 3D printer frame, in which you can insert a tablet of any size. On top of the tablet is a reflective surface. When the tablet is off, a person sees his reflection, when activated, is visible to the screen. In fact, it is just a hollow mirror, in which you can integrate a tablet of any size.





In addition to the mirror it comes with software for your tablet that turns it into the brain of a smart mirror. After software installation, the mirror gets the opportunity to identify the person to execute voice commands and respond to gestures without touching the glass surface. So, the mirror will not be permanently stained by fingerprints. In the mirror among other things, integrated voice assistant Alexa from Amazon.

On the mirror includes a standard set of modern intelligent mobile assistant: you can take notes, read the news, call a taxi. The mirror may be asked to take a photo or shoot a video.
