Malievtsy

Malievtsy tiny village with a population of approximately 700 people located 7 — 8 kilometers from the road Chernivtsi — Zhitomir in Dunaevetsky district of Khmelnytsky oblast on the left Bank of the river Bristol Lugs. The oldest written record in 1493 shows that the settlement belonged to the nobles Jan and Peter Malejovsky, from the name which the village got its name.





In 1785 Malievtsy acquired crown court huntsman, Jan Onufry Orlovsky, who in 1788 provides a luxurious Palace construction which invites well-known architects of the Italian Domenico Merlini and his disciple James Kubicki. The Palace was built in the style of early French classicism, and it is based on the classic concept of the architect A. Palladio, using the style of French residences of Louis XVI.





The Palace was built rectangular blocks of local Sandstone, which subsequently darkened. Since the Palace is located on the hillside, with the front (North) side of the has two floors and with the Park (South) — a three-story. On the left side of the portico are preserved the date of the building of the Palace — 1788.





The facades of the Palace are decorated with a Central avant-corps with a four-columned Tuscan order porticos and corner risalits crowned with triangular pediments. The Central portico and the portico facing the Park until recent times, was the coat of arms of the Orlov "Lubich". The columns of the Central portico on the first floor level and replace the pilasters, surmounted by half-figures of four mighty Atlantis, which hold on their shoulders the balcony of the second floor.





In some areas of the Palace remained stukovo moldings and panels. In the ballroom which was restored in 2005, on the walls there are images of musical instruments — horns, clarinets, guitars, and on the ceiling — two lush rosettes, from which hang chandeliers.Now the walls of the former Palace of children's antitubercular sanatorium. On the North of the Palace is another interesting building is the water tower, which provided the inhabitants of the Palace with water. Built in the early nineteenth century. On its roof was a viewing platform with the flagpole.





In the centre of the southern wall of the Park fence has been preserved entrance gate of the estate, on the pylons of which are stone vases.To the North of the Palace Orlov has planted an orchard, and to the South on the terraces was founded landscaped Park with an area of 17.2 hectares. In the Park grow 200-year-old Weymouth pines,300-year-old ash. Only 84 species of woody plants.





There are two artificial ponds, one of them is an island.Well-preserved source of drinking water with a bas-relief of a lion and a small pool. Oddly enough, the fountain in the pool is still working.The main highlight of the Park and all the Maliivtsi is a single cliff with a height of 18 meters, which falls a man-made waterfall. It really is an incredibly picturesque place that attracts not only tourists, but also scouts and supporters of the RUNES-faith.





In the rock is a two-storey cave. It is usually associated with the ancient monastery and the name of the national hero Ustym Karmaliuk. It is believed that in Slavic times, there was a pagan temple. According to legend, by the introduction of Christianity in Rus ' from Byzantium here came a monk, and living remotely in poverty so glorified God.there is a figure of St. John Nepomuk.





Also in Maliivtsi, it is unknown when and where did the figure, but we can assume that ordered it and gave the monastery the founder of the Palace, Jan Onufry Orlovsky. The figure has damaged the Communists in the 1930-ies together with other statues malievitch Park, and drove to the local cemetery. Already in the 90-ies, the statue was restored and returned to the place of believer family Christopher.
