In the village. Starobeshevo (Donetsk region of Ukraine) has launched an upgraded boiler which runs on wood pellets. This project was implemented in cooperation with the international organization R-20. The main goal of the project is lowering the cost of heating a local hospital with more cheap heat energy from the use of alternative environmentally clean fuel.
The reconstruction project, the price of which is around €150 000, was the setting of the existing gas boiler high-efficiency equipment (two water-heating solid fuel boilers KWU 0, 5m with a total capacity of 1 MW) of the automated fuel system, device automation, and metering of heat energy, a even emergency alarm system.
The main fuel for the boiler — pellets, a backup is natural gas, as there were four existing gas boiler. Pellets with high dryness and higher density have a high calorific value — 4100-5000 kcal/kg, which is equal to the heating value of coal and two times higher than the calorific value of firewood.
