Serial intercity bus ZIS-127 (historical reference prototype)

It should be noted that there are four types of bus ZIS-127. The first has six windows (think straight side of the window), three luggage hatch on the right side skirt, spotlight-floodlight on the roof and a decorative overlay on the front end of the logo. The second type ZIS-127 - the same six windows, but dull back of the cabin. The third option, the most famous (presented in our photos) - seven boxes and four luggage hatch of the skirt on the right. Finally, a fourth option - a city with two doors, "accordion" (in the literature it is often referred to as the ZIS-129). In addition to the above, in each embodiment, there were still two options glazing - with or without vents.

For the design of the bus for intercity travel design team of the plant began in 1953. This model, called ZIS-127, proved to be very successful. The car was carrying a metal body type wagon with high-class interior design. The comfortable lounge has 16 double seats with headrests. Their backs were provided with a mechanism for fixing in three positions. Salon has heating and ventilation system and was equipped with radio. In addition to the total of each chair had individual lighting.

For small things on chairs arranged luggage racks. Under the floor of the car seats was raised from the road to 975 mm, which is allowed to place beneath the vast luggage compartment. The bus had large dimensions: length - 10,218 mm, width - 2650, height - 3015, base - 5600 mm.

Gross vehicle weight was 13 000 kg. The desired speaker provides unusual for ZIS powerplant - mounted in the back of the bus body across the six-cylinder in-line diesel YAZ-206D to the original four-speed transmission. ZIS-127 was dependent spring suspension of wheels, hydraulic clutch control, pneumatic actuator brakes, hydraulic power steering.

In October 1955, the first domestic intercity bus ZIS-127 successfully completed a test run on the route Moscow - Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) - Moscow.

Unfortunately, the fate of the ZIS-127 was short. Their production lasted only four years. In 1959, in connection with the transfer bus production plant at Likinsky release ZIS-127 was discontinued. Total was collected 851 bus.

Eight years later, in 1967, in "Crimean Truth" published an article with gratitude to the Moscow automobile plant, one of the buses ZIS-127 was 2 million. Km without major repairs.
