Namely line Castelvetrano - Ribera - Agrigento, built in the early XX century and by the mid 70s lost its importance due to the appearance of good roads. This railway line stretched for 135 km along the southern coast of the island. The first plans for the construction of the railway appeared in 1882, but it came down to it (it is in the Sicilian tradition) only to 1907, when the construction of bridges, aqueducts, laying the rail station and the construction of facilities. By 1912 everything was ready and the first train to the locomotive traction opened regular flights between Kasteveltrano and Agrigento.
