3D homes for hermit crabs from Aki Inomata

Unusual activity found a Japanese artist Aki Inomata (Aki Inomata), namely modeling and construction of 3D printed shells "houses" with an unusual design for hermit crabs. This started an unusual art project called "Why not hand over a shelter to the crayfish-the hermits?" (Why Not Hand Overa "Shelter" to Hermit Crabs?), calling therefore all people on our planet, preserve the environment and their inhabitants.

Saw the light this project back in 2010 and has not lost its relevance and attention to this day. Because excessive tourists and all lovers of collecting shells to use them as decorations, Souvenirs and all sorts of trinkets, thus, leaves a marine life are increasingly less likely to find your comfortable house.

As architect and designer appeared in front of the audience, the artist Aki Inomata, residential building shell small crustaceans, which by its nature the lack of such essential survival element as shell. Therefore a hermit crab always, throughout its development and growth, the challenge is where to find a suitable and comfortable shelter. Often this crustacean is a strange, empty shell of shellfish of a suitable size. After reviewing all the nuances and peculiarities of structure of these crustaceans, Aki Inomata modeled three-dimensional shell, but still with the architectural excesses that resemble famous buildings around the world – Tokyo, new York and Bangkok.

Judging by the behavior of the shrimp settle in the new house, such housing went up and he feels comfortable in it and well.

This unusual project Aki Inomata, wants to draw a parallel between humans and hermit crabs, which always are in search of a better and more comfortable housing.
