Thought visual images can be recorded on video

Neuroscientists have recreated the dynamic visual images that arose in my head while watching a randomly selected video clips. In the future, this technology will help physicians monitor screen hallucinating patients, rich eccentrics - to lay out their dreams on YouTube.

Fantastic result was obtained in the University of California at Berkeley: test showed different videos from YouTube (fragments of films, trailers, etc.), while magnetic resonance imaging detail recorded the activity of cells in different parts of the visual cortex. With this information, the scientists were able to reconstruct the images scanned in color and dynamics.

For a start, researchers recorded the pattern of brain activity when viewing a number of Hollywood movie trailers. Biologists have constructed a three-dimensional computer model of the brain with groups of cells (voxels) and recorded as each voxel responds to changes in the form and motion of objects on the screen. So I managed to get a rough line of visual information and the process of its processing in the cerebral cortex.

For testing and debugging algorithm scientists fed him thousands of hours from millions of randomly taken from the rollers of the same service YouTube, yielding the opposite result - a simulated brain activity, which would be observed if the person would be looking through these videos.

Finally, the algorithm again drew. When you view the people in the video test computer tomograph picked from the web 100 commercials that are most likely to have been caused by just such a picture of the activity of the cells. Next, second by second program of blended images of the clips to give a blurred resultant film, good coincides with the fact that people saw in reality.
