The installation creates IrGTU separation of spent nuclear fuel

Scientists from the National Research Irkutsk State Technical University (ISTU) create a unique setting for the separation of spent nuclear fuel. The project for its establishment entered in the list of priority research works carried out by goszadaniyu Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in 2012-2014.

The new plant will allow for the first time divided three groups of ions with different energy in one cycle. Currently, created the layout of plasma-mass separator operating on a mixture of three plasma gases. The layout comprises a vacuum system, the plasma accelerator, two systems create an electromagnetic field receivers separated complex ions and diagnostics. For the analysis of the mass composition ISTU scientists are developing two new energy-mass analyzer. While there they made the theory and numerical calculations, is now looking design solution.

The plans for 2012 laid down the establishment of a diagnostic complex corpuscular diagnostics. According to project leader, professor of electronics and telecommunication systems ISTU Nicholas Strokina full layout of plasma-mass separator will be the first in the world practice this type of installation for the separation of materials of complex composition.
