In Antarctica, found 98-year-old negatives

At the beginning of the 20th century was carried out intensive study of the entire region of Antarctica, and different countries sent expeditions to this area. In 1914, an expedition was sent and called detachment Моря Ross - respectively the region, which receives squad. The expedition was not particularly successful, largely due to improper organization and equipment. The results of this expedition would not be worth now describe, if not accidental find 22 raw negatives that time.

discovery was made during the reconstruction of ancillary facilities built for the Ross Sea (where stored food supplies, equipment, equipped with a place for the winter). In one of the rooms just were found those same negatives. Part of that is closer to the edge of the box was damaged, but some survived quite well.

Already contemporary photographers showed negatives, getting great photos of Ross Island, and a couple of photos of the expedition leader Alexander Stephens. Here you can see on the recovered photos in good resolution. I think, for many members of Habrasoobschestva these photos are of some interest.
