During the inspection of the attic a small window was tightly closed, and when the detective returned from the store, the attic window was open. So, Philip, "Acrobat" was hiding in the attic in a pile of trash and was able to escape from the detective through the window in the roof, taking advantage of the natural flexibility and skills.
