5 tourist mistakes in London

A trip to London should be planned in advance: the fun is not cheap, and a UK visa to get is not easy. Not to spoil the impression of the long-awaited stroll through the capital of Albion, avoid common mistakes tourists.

1. To confuse England with the Netherlands

Bicycle – best means of transport for tourists in Amsterdam; this is true for a number of capitals of the Old world. To London this is not true, even if there is actively a network of bike lanes and the mayor himself, Boris Johnson sometimes gets to work on two wheels. Still in the British capital too intense movement, especially in the center, and to the fact that it is necessary to go on the left side, tourists get used hard. In addition, breathing at high speed, the polluted air is clearly unprofitable.

2. On a gastronomic exploits

Pizza should be eaten in Italy, burgers are in the US, sushi in Japan. And in London, it is better to eat these dishes than something specifically English. Puddings, watery oatmeal, eggs and bacon – the food on the fan, it is wiser to choose something more traditional and familiar. Of all English cuisine seems the most palatable is that the roast beef, and not the fact that it is best prepared at expensive restaurants. Drinks in London is also a trouble: the water is recommended to drink only bottled, find a well-brewed coffee – the whole problem, and the milk tea is, in essence, milk, diluted tea, which is not especially tasty.

3. To use a taxi

Ride in a black cab, which has become as much a symbol of London as the double Decker bus — very expensive pleasure. London taxi is one of the most reliable, fast and expensive in the world. To be eligible to work as a taxi driver in this cab, it is necessary to study five years to know all several thousand of city streets and to be able to get the shortest route between any two of them. Naturally, such a serious approach inevitably reflected in the price of services. It is worth considering that the cost of a trip, in addition to the time spent and distance affect the number of passengers.

4. To attract the attention of pickpockets clothes

Many tourists, buying in London souvenir t-shirts with a "Union Jack" British flag, or the inscription "Mind the Gap" and a symbol of the local underground, put them on the first day, thus becoming visible to pickpockets target. In principle, street thieves don't care whose pockets to inspect, but these t-shirts is immediately clear that before them the tourist, a man, who came purposefully to spend money.

5. To dwell on the tower

It is difficult to imagine a trip to London without visiting the tower of London, which, unfortunately, is not budget – worth more than 16 pounds. Meanwhile, in the capital of the United Kingdom there are lots of interesting museums to visit which are free. Much more experience you can get from a completely free inspection of the collection of the British Museum, the Victoria and albert Museum, the Tate gallery than standing in line willing to pay serious money for a walk around the tower in the crowd of tourists.
