Cable car with two-story booths, Switzerland
Switzerland has introduced a new cable car with two cabins near the city of Lucerne. The world's first such invention, which is given the name "Convertible" with an open upper observation deck. Cable car takes you to mount Stanserhorn, rising to the dizzying height of 1.9 miles. The cabin carries 60 passengers at the first platform and 30 persons outside on the upper deck.
Similar two-storey road is actually there and in other parts of the world, in particular, is the Vanoise Express in France and the cable car Shinhotaka in Japan. They also have upper floors, but the Convertible is the only road with an open deck upstairs overlooking the magnificent view of the valley.
The fascinating journey begins in the village of Stans, where is 15 minutes away by car or train from the centre of Lucerne. Base station cable car is 711 metres above sea level, it is one of the oldest functioning funiculars in the world, built in 1891 of wood and wrought iron. The funicular takes passengers from the village of Stans to the base station of the Convertible, which in itself is a masterpiece.
The length of the new cable car is 2.3 kilometers, and the cabin moving with a rather impressive speed of 8 meters per second. After six and a half minute travelers and tourists are on the top of the mountain, Stanserhorn at the height of 1850 meters. On the upper deck is 30 passengers and the lower deck is made entirely of glass, providing a beautiful view of the passengers, and some even causing dizziness.
This spectacular cable car have made a breakthrough in their field, to create a whole new dimension in Alpine travel.
