A cozy duplex penthouse of 140 square meters is located in St. Mary Magdalene Square in Paris, France. The three-bedroom residence occupies the top two floors of a two-century-old building and is formed by combining 12 maid rooms. It was designed by Ateliers Michael Herrman. The penthouse decor perfectly combines modern loft style and original historical elements. Limestone walls with oak beams symbolize architectural heritage, while the glass floor and open layout of the space speak to the trends of today. All elements of the residence decor are fully functional. The main feature of the penthouse is a green courtyard surrounded by five-meter glass walls. It is decorated with live vegetation, marble fireplace, mirror and chandelier, which together create a fabulous atmosphere for relaxation in the style of French salons of the XIX century. The adjacent living area, on the contrary, is contrasting and modern. Three bedrooms with bathrooms are designed in opposite parts on both floors of the penthouse. This project contrasts modernism, surrealism, minimalism, high-tech, playfulness and extravagance. The balance between them is so subtle and perfect that the perception of space is comparable to a colorful dream in which it is impossible to draw a line between fantasy and reality.
