Argentina: tango on the edge of the world

Argentina is a distant country, steeped in the Russian mind the romantic aura and causing the memory circuit of disparate associations. Passionate tango and childish soap Opera. Argentine steaks and constant mate. And Evita, the years of military dictatorship, the courage of the mothers of the Plaza de Mayo... All together it adds up to a quirky colorful puzzle.
First impression

The first minute of our stay on Argentine soil has disproved this stereotype: Buenos Aires, in contrast to Rio, does not inspire a sense of threat and insecurity, and welcomes you into his arms.

The South

However, I must give credit to Argentines — from the mixture of convict-romance cruisemiles they managed to make the demanded tourist product over the last 15 years the flow of tourists in Ushuaia has grown at least twice.

Country of glaciers
After Tierra del Fuego fly on Northwest, deep into the Patagonian steppe. An hour by plane and arrive in the town of El Calafate in the province of Santa Cruz, which is called the land of glaciers.
From El Calafate you can choose tours with different themes and difficulties, but the main local attraction, of course, the Perito Moreno glacier. We, not having the time to spare, decided to postpone them for next time. However, "simple" trip from El Calafate surprise no less. In Laguna Nimez you can observe the beautiful pink flamingos. And a trip to the Estancia La Leona with a visit to the so-called petrified forest will truly appreciate the power of the Patagonian steppes and deserts.
In General, Patagonia, his spirit is somewhat reminiscent of Siberia. Endless space — and not a soul (except occasionally small herds of guanaco). The legendary route 40, which stretches from North to South of Argentina at more than 5000 km, — the "younger brother" of the TRANS-Siberian. The love of the inhabitants of Patagonia to large cars (Toyota Hilux many years held the top sales REP) — endless miles can only be overcome on something reliable.
