Thank you for the Growler report
Vozdvizhenka - the air base in the Primorye Territory, located in the immediate vicinity of the village Vozdvizhenka.
At the airbase was stationed 444 th Berlin Order of Kutuzov third degree, and Alexander Nevsky heavy bomber regiment, a member of the 326th Heavy Bomber Division of the 37th Air Army. On arms regiment consisted supersonic long-range bombers, missile carriers Tu-22M3.
Currently, the regiment disbanded, some aircraft transferred to other air bases, and some - made unusable (removal of the engine, equipment, planes and fuselages to cut a hole). Skeletons aircraft awaiting final cutting of metal.
Due to the absence in the province of civil airports with runways capable of accepting large aircraft, the airfield was used for the reception of politicians:
in 1974 - during a meeting of Leonid Brezhnev and US President Gerald Ford (meeting in Vladivostok on the agreement on the SALT-1) [4]
in 1978 - in connection with the visit of Leonid Brezhnev cities of Siberia and the Far East.
There is another explanation of the reasons why aircraft Brezhnev and Gerald Ford landed at the air base of Vozdvizhenka. Theoretically Vladivostok airport in 1974 could make IL-62 and Boeing 707. The first persons of the state would have to carry about 40 kilometers by road to the residence of poor quality. Before the central entrance was built airfield Vozdvizhenka high zhelezhnodorozhnuyu platform held electrified railway line from the station Ussuriysk. Brezhnev and Ford take the train to the station Sanatorium (near Vladivostok), a few meters from it there is a sanatorium of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR in which the negotiations took place. This railway line after Brezhnev's death is no longer used.
Now a little about the situation at the airport:
The airfield is not that abandoned - and conserved, electricity is, runway lights and general lighting function near the aircraft have a building in which they sit a few people in camouflage and try to persuade the "tourists" not much jumping on the aircraft and did not touch the catapult because it is dangerous for life.
Just a bunch of dogs hanging out there supposedly guarding the aircraft, but the dog is already so tired of the public that there are staggering, they do not pay any attention to it :)
In addition to several points of the airfield are monitoring duty, our group is not particularly hidden and therefore 5 minutes walking on the runway we caught up with "Patrol" who persistently asked us to look for adventure on the fifth point in another place :) But after a brief conversation for life and the story of how we have not played enough in his childhood in tanchiki allow us half an hour to look at the planes (Thank you good man).
Just "patrol" complained to us metalheads who scored on airplanes and engaged in digging the existing underground cables.
Arrive at the airport can be through a bunch of passages, holes and holes, we went through the "gate" near the carcass pomyatnika
In the presence of wit and some skill you can climb into the cockpit in bombalyuk, technical compartment, the cockpit gunner signalers, etc. but we must be very careful not to break your neck, you have to be especially careful with bean catapults.
Tu-16, to the delight of local children and visitors is close to aircraft factory as a museum exhibit.
Monumental plane near inspires respect
