Lena Pillars

I want to share my journey to the Lena Pillars. Long thought to how to spend the weekend on Friday and someone from our company has offered to visit them. It was telephoned a lot of companies offering a trip to the pillars. Everywhere is not satisfied with the price. It was between 9000 and up to two days. After thinking a bit, we decided to travel by car themselves. Literally gathered for the evening, the next morning at 10:00 left in the direction of columns. In the car, we had 4 people. Things were a lot. As it turned out - a part is not suitable.

The road just simply 150 km. But what a road! There has never suited proverb - a good asphalt road is not lying. The road to the village of Elance, where we planned to set up camp, took about 3 hours. On the way to meet the national construction. As explained by one of the local - they were built for the Yakut New Year, which is celebrated at the end of July.

Just passing a few villages. Some of the houses in these villages
were more or less. Some looked sad.

Arriving at the place we've been looking for parking space. And our search was rewarded here in this beautiful place. Then pass from behind the rocks was impossible. So we set up the tents and his car blocked the road.

Camped on the shore of the Lena River, we learned from local contacts boatman. From the village of Lena Pillars Elance to about 40-50 km along the river and the opposite shore. Boatman arrived an hour later, taking everyone by 1500 for half an hour took us to his motorboat to the pillars.

On the shore we were already small pleasure and healthy cruise ships.
It was about 18-00 people there were not many, apparently everything is down and scattered cabins waiting for departure. "Login" on the pillars fee - 200 rubles per person. Fires burning can not put a tent too (first reserve, and secondly so as not to bring them a big problem - bears).

There are two trails to lift up. A civilized arranged wooden steps and handrails. Second with no amenities, but officially banned. It is natural to feel all the thrill of climbing, we went wild path. The ascent took about an hour, with stops to take photos and admiring the views.

At the top, on the viewing platform, there are places to rest (benches and booths), and made the toilet. Admire the views from the summit, we descended already civilized way. The descent took 20-30 minutes. Later it was decided to take a dip in the river. Awfully cold with very strong currents. And then - the way to the parking lot, night fishing and home
