Why the Matterhorn is called "dream climbers" ?

Keen climbers want to conquer nearly all the great peaks of our planet. Of course, they can't go past the Alps. On the border between Switzerland and Italy is the famous Matterhorn.





Its height equals to 4478 m. the Italians tried to conquer the Matterhorn in 1857. The first successful ascent was made on 14 July 1865, a group of Englishman Edward Wimper.

The name of the mountain was born from the German words Matte ("meadow") and Horn ("peak").
