Unusual glass beach in California

Unusual glass beach near Fort Bragg in California. It is unique in that instead of sand, pieces of polished glass. So it made the time and surfers, correcting a serious mistake in the relationship with nature.





And it all began: in 1949, at this place "sported" a giant landfill. Today is hard to imagine in America, but in those days people throwing garbage anywhere. So, in the ocean off of a ton of waste, old cars etc.





In the 60 years the government tried to control littering. But in 1967 they came to believe that ocean pollution can only be stopped by closing the landfill and made this decision.





According to the official website of the city of Fort Bragg in the 90 years nature itself has returned to the beach. For decades the sea has done its job and washed up the mountains of polished slivers of glass. After that, the beach is called Glass. Here you can still see the remains of garbage, but the first thing to stop the sight – glass pebbles instead of sand, shimmering in the sun.





This beach is located in the natural Park of Mackerricher, so collect different colored slivers is strictly prohibited. But here you can admire how the glass build sand houses sea crabs and other inhabitants.
