The hotel is “Shabby, Shabby” — a new word in the hotel business

“Hotel Shabby Shabby” — not a normal hotel, and 22 private cabin, built in the framework of the festival “Theater der Welt ” held in the German city of Mannheim. They constructed a team Raumlabor, the architects, the students and joined them enthusiasts: the construction of each construction cost to a maximum of 250 euros, and houses had to survive in the period from 22 may to 8 June 2014, when the festival took place. Given that the room in such apartments cost 25 euros, the approach paid for itself.









Room “Shabby, Shabby” was placed in the most unexpected places: on the roof of a high building, on the bustling market square, on a secluded Bank of the river. The creators of this unusual hotel used only materials suitable for recycling, as well as what was found on the streets of the city: scaffolding, pallets for transportation, panel made of polycarbonate. They wanted to build above all cozy houses (literally — “the den”), of which a good view of the surrounding countryside and where guests can sleep and Wake up. Judging by the photos, they really succeed.
