The first color photographs of Japan (16 photos)

A group of photographers attracted French banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn in 1912-1930 gg. Perform one of the most ambitious photo projects in the history of mankind - to capture in color all over the world, from the Amazon jungle to the heights of Tibet. The whole collection of 70,000 images preserved and is now a drop seeps into the Internet.

Shootings were, as elsewhere, cultural and ethnographic in nature, so there is little of what we now would be the most interesting - central Tokyo streets, railways, factories, military ships.
