Ironically, Richard Dumas does not belong to the society photographer, nor to a portraitist.
In contrast to the famous Richard Avedon, Dumas became a fashionable photographer shooting celebrities. Yet he is famous, his personal approach (and talent) to the portrait.

His work is easily recognizable. Firstly, they can, nevertheless, to see the stars, and, secondly, their fotopodacha made in his personal style, that is, finding a celebrity, at the same time, you will know that it filmed Dumas. His portraits are elegant, they are characterized by a strong contrast and courageous restraint. He intuitively "paints" a portrait of erasing unnecessary, and making it timeless, revealing the essence of the hero image. Unexpected fluctuations in light, perspective, critics point out that the portraits Dumas peculiar kind of literary, musical (from jazz to rock), and even a slight influence of the Portuguese cinema.
