Life in the slums of Nigeria

These slums are located in an area called 12 Mile, in Lagos, Nigeria. As in other slums around the world, there are people from different parts of the country.

The buildings are constructed primarily of wood, electricity is intermittent, the only source of water - shallow wells dug by residents from their homes. Most children do not attend school.
