Incredibly realistic Lobster from boxwood from Ryousuke Ohtake

   




In a huge palette of Japanese sculpture there's a small niche, known as jizai okimono carving realistic animals like living beings. This craft originated in the late Edo period (late 1700s). Since then, the lobster, with its numerous joints and undulating back, is considered the most difficult and complex subject.





Ryosuke Ohtake , a young 25-year-old sculptor, caused quite a stir recently when he boldly took on the challenge and created an immaculate and animated lobster from wood. What stunned many. Omar was exhibited at Tokyu Department Store in Tokyo in April this year.
