What kind of nutrition can be considered exemplary and why

Proper nutrition is essential for maintaining good health. No one wants to eat just about anything, so we regularly try to include healthy foods in our diet, thereby instilling in ourselves the habits of proper nutrition , we carefully study the labels of goods in the supermarket before buying.

However, the very definition of proper nutrition is very vague. Each country has its own cuisine, its own list of popular products, its own national dishes. It is all the more interesting to look through various ratings, where researchers assess the level of food quality in different countries.

We were interested in the fact that the Netherlands are leading such ratings with enviable consistency. Why not get to know the food habits of the inhabitants of this country better? Perhaps they have some secret?

Good eating habits For those who are used to sitting down to the table 4-5 times a day, staying in the Netherlands can be a real challenge. Local residents eat only once a day - in the evening. It is for dinner (by about 6 pm) that a full meal is prepared here: meat, side dish, salad and so on.

It is not customary to eat tightly at breakfast. In the morning, the Dutch eat a couple of sandwiches and run on business. They won't cook a hearty meal either. And why, if you can have a snack in one of the many eateries or satisfy your hunger with a hot sandwich.

Even in this example, you can see the special passion of the inhabitants of the Netherlands for sandwiches. Sandwiches and other combinations of bread with a wide variety of products (like fish, pâté or cheese) can be found on every corner. Sandwiches are made both single-layer and multi-layer, and even with fried eggs.

Popular products Since cheeses are very popular in this country, it is easy to guess that similar products are present in the diet of local residents. Sheep and goat, dairy and dietary, with spices and sauces ... The Dutch adore cheeses both as a separate snack, and as an addition to dishes, and just with bread.

Without fish in the Netherlands, too, nowhere. It is not surprising, the country is maritime. Freshly salted herring is sold at every corner - already peeled and with onions. This is a local fast food. By the way, herring and onion sandwiches are also popular. Seafood such as mussels and shrimp are also common.

The Dutch prepare their hot meals for the evening to have a good meal after work. Usually this is a meat or fish dish, served with mashed vegetables - stamppot (in popularity it is inferior only to sandwiches).

The locals also adore grated potatoes along with vegetables: sauerkraut, lettuce, carrots, broccoli. Traditionally, a slice of sausage is boiled (much like we do with sausages). But soups are rarely eaten. Pea is more often cooked, and it is cooked very thick. Be sure to add bacon or smoked meats to it.

There is nothing unprecedented in the culinary preferences of the Dutch. Although their cuisine is varied, the most popular dishes and products are extremely simple. All food, including fast food, is of high quality and affordable prices, which allows you to eat healthily. And the abundance of fresh sea fish makes the diet even more balanced.
