Wright Electric introduced a revolutionary passenger plane with 150 seats

The market for electric vehicles continues to grow, but the electric planes are not yet commonplace. Startup Wright Electric plans to change that with 150-seat passenger aircraft, powered by electric batteries. Wright Electric recently presented his idea to investors at the ongoing open day Y Combinator, the most prestigious accelerator in Silicon valley.

The 150-seat passenger aircraft, on the idea of a startup, to press turbofan narrow-body Boeing 737. For this Wright Electric signed a partnership agreement with the British budget airline EasyJet, which can implement technical solutions startup.

"This is one of the best teams I have ever seen," said Michael Seibel, the head of the accelerator program, referring to the engineers, Wright Electric. In the past, they worked for NASA, studying on behalf of the Agency potential of elektrosviazi. This allowed startup for a few years to beat the competition, says co-founder Jeff Wright Electric, Engler.

The actual implementation of the plan depends on the progress in the technology of batteries. If in the next decade will see a significant progress, the aircraft will be fully electric. Otherwise, it will be implemented a hybrid system reminiscent of the Chevy Volt car.

Last year, Boeing and Airbus have sold 967 737 aircraft class for about $90 million each. The ability to win even a small share of this market can bring great economic benefits. published
