Latvian ships races from dairy packaging

We already know that ships can be built out of concrete and ice, but in the Latvian town of Jelgava every year during the festival of Milk, bread and honey" racing on the river Lielupe on ships that are made from empty cardboard containers from milk. Many of the contest participants compete for victory in different nominations among which is the fastest ship, the biggest and most beautiful.

 


   


  

The main conditions of the contest — the ship should only be done from the packages of milk and it needs to be propelled only by the strength of his team. The size of the ship and the number of people in the team is not limited. Although the race distance of just 60 meters, teams have to work very hard, since the light-ships have quite a lot of windage and can be carried by wind.

 


The contest began a couple of years ago under the auspices of the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and use of food of Latvian producers.
