Organic fruits and vegetables contain more antioxidants

Organic fruits, vegetables and grains contain more antioxidants and fewer pesticides than conventionally-grown products — showed a detailed analysis of the research conducted on this topic by University of Newcastle in the UK.

Organic crops contain 17% more antioxidants than conventionally grown. "The research clearly shows that how we grow your food has a huge value," said Carl Leifert, Professor of ecological agriculture at Newcastle University in England who led the study. "If you buy organic fruits and vegetables, you can be sure that you will get more antioxidants at the same calorie content," he added.

These data contradict the report, which was published two years ago by researchers from Stanford, who argued that there are only minor differences in nutritional value between organic and conventional food.

In any case, even a new study and does not guarantee that eating organic food leads to a significant improvement of health, but there are many other data to prove that antioxidants reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases.
