Hydrogen crossover from Mercedes-Benz

At the Los Angeles motor show, which starts in mid-November, Mercedes-Benz is going to show the prototype of the future urban crossover rival Audi Q1 (also not yet released in serial form). The concept is called G-Code and is considered to be a pure show car, that is, mass production of the machine either under that name or in such a way will not go.

However, the practices used in creating it, will definitely find use in the course of working on a valid competitor to the Audi Q1.

The concept G-Code literally and stuffed with innovations. First and foremost – hydrogen power plant. Similar vehicles from Mercedes-Benz was not. No technical information about the power base the manufacturer has not yet reported furthermore that the unit fuel cell equipped with another turbo.

The rear axle rotates the traditional concept of the electric motor and assists the engine automatic transmission with two clutches.

Design G-Code is different from traditional "Mercedes" style, because the show car developed in cooperation with German designers and even experts from Chinese design Studio brand. The size of the G-Code is more suitable under the definition of "five-door hatchback" than the crossover, as at 31 cm shorter than the body of the small SUV brand–, front-wheel drive GLA. Length of the show car is 4.1 meters. The width and height it surpasses the GLA on 9 cm and 6 mm, respectively.

Another interesting innovation, applied for Mercedes-Benz G-Code is the original paint, which is covered with the body. This is an accumulator of solar energy, while in cloudy days it switches over to the accumulation of energy of the oncoming air flow.

Energy accumulates even the original suspension "Power on the Move" it to reverse the spring serves as a generator.

It should be noted that the concept of the Mercedes-Benz were smaller and less future competitor to the Audi Q1 in concept Crossline Coupe, but ingolstadts also can reduce its production of novelty.

It is expected that the hydrogen powerplant, the show car debuted in serial form in 2017 to a new generation of compact van B-class that with zero fuel consumption needs to find its place in corporate fleets.
