Siemens has introduced a new platform of wind turbine 10MW +

German energy giant Siemens has introduced a new platform for its wind turbines over the next five years, adding that the company aimed to measure the value of € 80 per MW * hour of electricity generated at wind plants in 2025.

Speaking to reporters at the event Global Offshore Wind RenewableUK June 21-22 in Manchester, United Kingdom, CEO of Siemens Wind Power, Michael Hannibal presented a number of technical achievements.

"Size does matter, when we talk about the value of wind power," said Hannibal, alluding to the fact that the more power a wind turbine, the lower the price of electricity produced on it.

"The current platform on which we operate, are platforms 6MVt capacity 7 MW and 8MVt. By 2025, the new platform will be introduced. And, as history has shown, it will have more power, "added the CEO of Siemens Wind Power.

Relatively new platform Hannibal said: "The platform is not completely blocked by the rotor size, but the capacity of new wind turbines will be 10 MW»

. "A few years ago, many people have tried to predict how large turbines can be, and they all failed," he said. Hannibal also confirmed that Siemens offered the market a turbine capacity of 8 MW.

The Siemens also said that the company is seeking to reduce the cost of electricity produced at offshore installations vetrogeneriruyuschih to € 80 per megawatt hour *, including connection costs by 2025. Hannibal said that the goal of € 100 per MW * h is reached in 2020.

Hannibal also said that Siemens is currently working on a new type of foundation for the installation of wind turbines in the sea near the shore.
