Eco kindergarten in Italy

MCA Project Office - Mario Cucinella Architects built a kindergarten in the town of Guastalla, Italy. The new building came to replace two old buildings, damaged during the earthquake. Kindergarten is designed for 120 children aged 0-3 years.

The architects have focused on the interaction between kids and nature, giving preference to non-intrusive method of teaching, in which nothing is left to chance. Since the distribution of educational areas and ending with the choice of building materials, all perfectly in this project and aims to bring internal and external spaces. We used recycled materials with a low coefficient of impact on the environment. For example, the supporting structure is a wooden frame - a reliable material to maintain a high degree of thermal insulation of buildings. This approach, along with the optimal distribution of transparent surfaces, installation of rainwater collection and recycling system, as well as solar panels has allowed to minimize the need to use conventional sources to meet the energy needs of the kindergarten.
