The experiment was conducted in California on a group of "biohacking" entitled "Science for the masses." They used a solution of a substance called chlorin E6 (CE6), which was discovered in deep water fish and has a property to amplify light and also used in studies of cancer treatment. Combining CE6 insulin and saline, the team created a substance that can enhance vision in low light conditions.
