Photographer naturalist Konrad Here (Konrad Wothe) witnessed as a young chimpanzee tries to become independent.
It happened in the Tanzanian reserve Mahale Mountains National Park.

According to 59-year-old photographer, chimpanzees are gradually moving away from their parents at the age of about 6 months, when they begin to move independently. They escape to explore the world, to climb trees.





But it certainly is not true independence and without care cub little mother was capable of. With parents chimpanzees live to around 7-10 years and go only when they reach sexual maturity (in 9-13 years, male puberty begins about three years earlier).
