Justifying the need to rename the police to police, the authors of the draft law "On Police" indicate that the word "police" means the irregular armed groups, which are used also for the support of public order during the revolutionary changes in the country. The police, according to the presentation, it was established as an executive body for the protection of the revolutionary public order in 1917.



At the same time, the word "police" means a system of public services and institutions that perform functions on a professional basis for the protection of public order and combating crime.



The draft law "On Police" prepared by the People's Deputies Vasyl Gritsak and Valery Konovalyuk and registered in the Verkhovna Rada under the number 10688.
