March 5, 1940 in Moscow, was founded experimental design bureau Sukhoi, which of the seventy-odd years there have been many aircraft, some of which have long since become legendary. Today we tell about a dozen of the best production aircraft issued under the name of Su.

Su-2

It should be noted that the history of Sukhoi Design Bureau started far in 1940. In October 1930 Pavel Sukhoi led the team of designers, who for the next decade has created some fairly well-known aircraft, such as serial I-4 and I-14 as well as the legendary ANT-25 aircraft Chkalov, known as RD (distance record ). However, the first child of Office, called in honor of the founder, became the Su-2 (originally BB-1 "short-range bomber»).

Dry with Su-2 was the winner of aircraft, announced in the USSR in 1936. All three submitted for this competition bids were approximately equal, so that the Commission has allowed the designers (Dry, Polikarpov and many) to create a pilot copies of their creations. Better and faster than all coped with the task team Sukhoi - they presented the aircraft just six months.

This success was one of the reasons why a group of designers, the former as part of TsAGI allocated to a separate bureau then became the Sukhoi Design Bureau. Serial production of the Su-2 began in 1940, the bomber was one of the most famous Soviet aircraft of World War II.

Su-7

After creating quite successful Su-2 Sukhoi Design Bureau has developed several experimental models of aircraft that have not been put into mass production. Dissatisfaction with the results of the design bureau was aggravated by the accident of the Su-15, and in 1949 the company was dissolved. But in 1953 it was restored.

The first successful airplane revived Sukhoi became a jet fighter-bomber Su-7, first took to the skies in 1955, and got into production in 1958. For many years he was one of the most well-known domestic military aircraft, was adopted, in addition to USSR, nine countries in different continents.

In Egypt, still standing monuments of the Su-7, well-proven in wars with Israel and Libya.

Su-17

Another legendary Soviet fighter-bomber Su-17 became developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau in the mid-sixties. It is the first domestic aircraft with variable geometry wing, which may change the sweep (the deflection angle of the wing with respect to the axis of symmetry of the aircraft) during the flight, which increases the efficiency of the aircraft.

The basis for the Su-17 was taken is well-proven, but not very efficient Su-7, which is substantially completed by changing the front part of the fuselage, landing gear and tail, and the wing has been designed from the ground up.

Unlike the Su-7, which is essentially used as a fighter, the new aircraft could easily conduct a successful air combat with the best and modern at the time by Western counterparts. As a result, Su-17 proved itself very good in the conflicts in the Middle East and in Afghanistan, where it was used for the ten years of the military campaign. He was and still is in service in eight countries.

Su-24

In 1970, the first time in the sky rose Soviet bomber Su-24, which was intended to completely replace the outdated Su-7. So there was an all-weather aircraft with variable geometry wing, the workhorse of the Soviet and now Russian army, which operated until now (until 2020).

Appeared in service of our army in 1975, the Su-24 bomber restrictions apply during the war in Afghanistan. Most of the cases of its combat use accounted for the local conflicts of the nineties, including in both Chechen campaigns, Karabakh and Tajikistan. The Su-24 is also used extensively during the war in South Ossetia in 2008.

Su-25 Rook

At first, Su-25, now known by the nickname Grach, was nicknamed Little Humpbacked Horse. The reason was quite unusual shape of the fuselage, the cockpit with a projection which is a bit like a hump. Pilots, who saw for the first time this hunchback, is very skeptical about the new product, but sitting on the wheel and feel the power of attack aircraft, they drastically changed their opinions about the Su-25.

Su-25 - is an armored assault aircraft, which is designed for air support of ground forces at any time and under any weather conditions. Approximately 7 percent of its weight falls on the system for the protection of aircraft in combat. Depending on the task, the Su-25 can be equipped with 32 different types of weapons, some of which can be used simultaneously.

First tested in combat in 1980, Su-25 has since managed to participate in fifteen different conflicts around the world. Now he is armed with seventeen countries. Total production in 1320 of its units, but production is still underway.

Su-27

Highly maneuverable Su-27 has long been recognized as one of the best combat aircraft produced in the Soviet Union. It has excellent flight and combat characteristics superior to the nearest "competitor" of the MiG-29 on the flight range and possible load.

Incredibly successful design of the Su-27 made it possible to create on its basis a lot of modifications, some of which became independent models. Despite his amazing fighting qualities, the Su-27 - rather, it is the plane of deterrence and combat cases of its application is not so frequent. The most famous conflict in which one of the parties to apply it - this is war between Ethiopia and Eritrea in 1999-2000.

But Su-27 is regularly used for the creation of new aviation records and demonstrate aerobatics. This is the main plane of the "Russian Knights».

Su-30

Su-30 - a heavily upgraded version of the already mentioned in the review of domestic legendary Su-27 fighter. It is designed to control the air battle group operations, as well as cover for ground operations. This aircraft, which is designed to ensure the dominance of one of the parties to the conflict in the air. It can also serve as a scout. The Su-30 is the world's first serial super-maneuverable aircraft.

Unlike its predecessor, the Su-30 has the ability to refuel in the air.

Of the more than 450 copies of the Su-30, only three are in service with the Russian army. This is primarily an export product - the aircraft is in service with China, India, Vietnam, Venezuela, Indonesia, Algeria, Uganda and Malaysia.

Su-35

Su-35 at the moment, this is the best and most modern combat aircraft of the Russian army, launched into production. Another modification of the Soviet Su-27 a few heads surpasses its "ancestor", being a multi-functional super-maneuverable fighter. It is the first domestic military aircraft 4 ++ generation, which means its full identity of the fifth-generation aircraft with the exception of stealth technology.
