Art Brut
Pictures of mentally ill people since ancient times cause people's interest, because by and large they work does not depend on the general cultural patterns and they draw what comes into their head. Of course, the artistry of sick people do not apply for the masterpieces, but, as you know, from madness to genius one step. A few decades ago, the French painter Jean Dubuffet coined the term as "art brut" meaning a collection of not only paintings and drawings, but also many other things created by marginals (the mentally ill, the disabled, prisoners and other people who make a minimum participation in the life normal society).
Pictures of the mentally ill - clearly stand out, because it is paintings and drawings of people are spontaneous and real from the unreal in these writings is difficult to discern. On their own works of art insane, no doubt, put pressure on the psyche, so to watch such work is not for everyone.
