Instagram Olympic flame-2024 July 26 in Paris starts the main sports tournament of the world. Over 19 days, more than 10,000 athletes from different parts of the world will compete in 32 disciplines for 329 sets of medals. The Olympics return to Paris exactly 100 years later, for the third time in French history.

The upcoming games are called innovative. Take at least their main slogan. The century-old call for "Faster, Higher Stronger" has been replaced by "Wide Open Games." But the most shocking innovations await us. Competitions will be held in the spirit of change, and what more!

No stadiums or traditional parades: the opening ceremony will be held in a new way for the first time in the history of the Olympics. Teams will descend on boats along the Seine to Trocadero Square. It is here that 600,000 spectators will be able to witness the lighting of the Olympic flame. And the proud posture of the Eiffel Tower!

On May 8, the Olympic flame 2024 arrived from Greece to Marseille. He is currently traveling to France and will arrive in Paris on July 14. The contestant will be French drag queen Minima Geste. On the opening day of the Games, she will pass through the streets of the capital in 25-centimeter heels and in a shiny dress, carrying a symbol of unity and peace.

According to the mayor of Paris, the decision to entrust the actress with such an important task was a great breakthrough. This is a signal to the world that the Olympic Games are open to all. Gender identity and sexual preference play no role here. This is a step towards a more tolerant society.

Instagram itself Minima Geste is not just a travesty diva. She is an LGBT+ model and activist. Her attitude towards sports is measured not only by many hours of high heels and tight corsets. In the past, the drag queen was engaged in synchronized swimming and wrestling.

Expectably, such an exotic candidacy for the role of torchbearer caused a storm of outrage among conservatives. Minima Geste has faced a wave of hate, condemnation, transphobic and homophobic abuse. But for drag queen stood up the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo. The French capital is proud that the values of peace and humanity will be represented by such an unusual character.

In fact, the tournaments will begin 2 days before the ceremony. On July 24-25, handball and football matches will start. They will be held in 7 cities: Paris, Marseille, Nantes, Bordeaux, Nice, Saint-Étienne and Lyon.

16 km from Paris in the Royal Versailles will be held tournaments in pentathlon and equestrian sports. Le Bourget will host climbing competitions, Ver-sur-Marne - sprint races and kayaking races. In Nanterre and Saint-Denis will compete athletes in water sports. There are boxers in Villepent.

In total, 12 Olympic points are organized, divided into 9 towns in the vicinity of Paris. The most remote area from the capital, where the Olympics will be held, is located 15,000 kilometers from the city! This is the village of Teahupoo on the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia. Surfing tournaments will be held here.

Part of the competitions will be held at venues in the historical centers of the capital, sometimes under the open sky. Spectators will be able to watch the match from beach volleyball next to the Eiffel Tower on the legendary Champ de Mars. And on the Champs Elysees, athletes will show “class” in break dancing, skateboarding and freestyle.

Athletes from 206 countries will come to the Games, although we will see the exact lists in June based on the results of the final qualifying. On June 23, competitions will start in golf, break dancing, sports climbing, skateboarding, motocross and freestyle on BMX.

The Olympics will be attended by 13 million guests. The organizers promise to take all measures to suppress acts of terrorism. The 2024 Games are called the most prudent. A little more than 4 billion euros were allocated for them. Private funds accounted for 96% of the budget. This is a mere penny compared to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. It cost the organizers 25 billion euros.

Will Russia and Belarus participate in the Olympics-2024? As we mentioned earlier, the Games support the idea of a tolerant society and openness to all participants. But representatives of terrorist countries are not among them. The IOC banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the opening and closing ceremonies.

Athletes from totalitarian states will be able to compete only as neutral athletes - any symbols of aggressor countries are prohibited. Earlier, Ukraine urged to block their participation in any form. Countries that unleashed a war of conquest in the twenty-first century have no right to represent themselves on the world sports arena. But so far this position has not found worthy support.
