Incredibly strong performance of singer Alyosha and other highlights of Eurovision-2023
No matter what anyone says, Eurovision was and remains the main song contest, and its audience reaches almost 600 million viewers annually. It is not surprising that participation in the Eurovision Song Contest for any artist becomes an incredible opportunity to express themselves loudly to the whole world. And winning here is a dream come true.
However, the first place in the Eurovision Song Contest is not only the success of the artist and his team, but a great achievement of the whole country. After all, it is in the country of the winner that the song contest for the next year is held. And it is prestigious and attracts a large number of tourists.
Last year, a confident victory at Eurovision went to the Ukrainian rap group Kalush Orchestra for the song “Stefania”. And the performance received a record support of the audience – 439 points (almost 94% of all possible votes). This is the third victory of Ukraine in the competition for 19 years.
And in 2023, the competition was to be held in Ukraine, as in the country of the previous winner. But due to the Russian invasion and the ongoing war, the event had to be moved to a safer location. And today's edition. "Site" will tell Eurovision Song Contest-2023 What the participants have already done. Who has the best chance of winning this time?
Back in the summer of 2022, it became known that the song contest will not be held in Ukraine, since it is not safe for both participants and guests. The venue was chosen by the UK, as it was the representative of the United Kingdom (Sam Ryder) last year was the second.
The first Eurovision semi-final was held in Liverpool on May 9. The next stage was attended by representatives of 10 countries: Moldova, Serbia, Norway, Croatia, Finland, Switzerland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Israel and Sweden.
GettyImages did not do without the indignation of fans. That’s because the organizers decided to make the process of announcing finalists more emotional. They wanted to gather all the performers on stage at X-hour, and then alternately name the lucky ones who go to the finals. A similar procedure can be seen in popular shows.
However, the audience felt that it was cruel to the participants. Fans insisted that the artists should rest after the performance and in a calm atmosphere learn their results. The organizers had to take public opinion into account, the innovation was canceled.
GettyImages Bright performances Unusual was the performance of the Croats. Let 3 staged a real performance, satirically commenting on Russian aggression against Ukraine and mocking the thirst for power of dictators. There were also references to Belarus, which helps Russia in the war.
GettyImages Among the main favorites were the Swedes. Singer Lorin already won the Eurovision Song Contest 11 years ago with the song "Euphoria", but now she has a chance to take first place again.
However, representatives of another Scandinavian country can compete for victory. So the Finnish singer Käärijä ventured to perform the song in his native language. And if earlier such a step would hardly make it possible to claim something serious, today this approach may be justified. In addition, we note the number itself, where the frontman acted brightly and provocatively. The audience definitely remembered the performance.
Thanks to last year’s victory, Ukrainian group TVORCHI will perform immediately in the final. However, the audience has already managed to please the singer Alyosha, who acted as a guest in a duet with Rebecca Ferguson.
This emotional number showed the audience how the life of an ordinary Ukrainian couple is invaded by a war with an air alarm. As Ukrainians write letters to their families, then these letters turn into blue-yellow wings. The emotional performance did not leave the audience indifferent, many in the hall could not hold back tears.
GettyImages will host its second semi-final today (May 11). And on the 13th, the final will be held, where we will get a new winner. We will see what else the participants will surprise. In any case, the ending promises to be interesting.
