Kalush Orchestra sells its Eurovision prize for the first time in history

The Ukrainian winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Kalush Orchestra, once again caught the public’s attention. They use their popularity to help their country. Not only did they bring Ukraine a victory in the music competition, they also decided to monetize this victory. They held an auction where they sold their cup.

Ukrainian Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra and Sergey Pritula announced the auction on May 25. They decided to play the winners’ cup, as well as the pink Panama, which became the hallmark of the group.

The terms of the auction were simple: the prize will receive the one that will offer the largest amount. The first bet was made by entrepreneurs from the city of Kalush. They wanted the Eurovision Cubs to stay in the band's hometown. However, their bet of $28,000 quickly surpassed.

During a live broadcast on May 29, the rate went from $45,000 to $900! Yeah, it's not a mistake or a typo. The final bet for the Eurovision trophy was $900,000. Now the owners of the Cup became the Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT. For this money, the foundation of Sergey Pritula will be able to buy a complex of drones for the Ukrainian army.

Everyone could make a donation to the Pritula fund in the amount of 5 euros or 200 hryvnias. The more donations, the better the chances of winning Panama. More than 30,000 people from 56 countries participated in the draw. As a result of the draw collected 11 million hryvnias. The largest donation was 64 thousand hryvnia. However, this did not guarantee a person victory. The winner was a Ukrainian who lives in the Czech Republic. He made 5 donations and was lucky.
