“There can be no war in any particular part of the territory. If she comes, it's a disaster for everyone. And therefore it is impossible to be neutral, said Kuzma Scriabin. Today we remember the famous Ukrainian musician for a reason. For all Ukrainians, he became a symbol of freedom and justice during his lifetime.

Kuzma Scriabin Mother Kuzma was a music teacher. Together with young children she sang folk and ritual songs. The boy grew up in a creative environment and in childhood he graduated from the music school in the piano class. However, he also gravitated to sports and philology. From the 1st grade, the future musician studied at school, where he studied English in depth. As a result, Skryabin, in addition to his native Ukrainian, mastered English, Polish and Russian.
Despite a serious passion for music, after school Andrei Kuzmenko wanted to enter the Lviv Medical Institute. However, to become a neurologist, it was necessary to give the leadership of the university a bribe. Even then, the young man was distinguished by his principles. The dream had to be abandoned, and the guy went to PTU.

Around the same time, he created his musical band, which was the first stage on the way to the emergence of the cult group Scriabin. After the 1st year, Kuzma is taken into the army. There he learned a lot of medical skills in a military hospital and learned to drive.
Upon his return, Scriabin transferred to study at the Lviv Medical Institute. True, for this to happen, the musician’s parents secretly paid for his place in the university. At some point, he wanted to quit his studies, finally choosing a creative path for himself. He graduated from university to avoid upsetting his parents.
Instagram / @chagovets86 After graduation Kuzma went on a road trip in Germany. His faithful companion was the car "Victory". The adventures of the musician formed the basis of his debut book “I, Victory and Berlin”. In 2020, the film adaptation of this work began. The film was supposed to be released in March this year. However, this did not happen due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
The creative path to the work of Kuzma has never been attributed to any one musical genre. He had a craving for melomania as a child when he first heard the Beatles track Lady Madonna. Scriabin was a punk at heart, and his music traced the features of techno, post-punk, indie, pop rock, synth-pop and even gothic rock.
Instagram / @kuzma_skryabin_nazavzdu At the dawn of his musical career, the musician most often wrote songs in English. And then I translated them into Ukrainian. In the life of Kuzma appeared more and more creative people who influenced his attitude. In June 1989, Scriabin recorded their first studio composition.
Over the next few years, the composition of the band changed, finally establishing itself in 2005. The band released one of their most successful albums, Tango. In the 90s Kuzma began to actively appear on screens and on the radio as a presenter.
Kuzma Scriabin was a true patriot of Ukraine. However, he clearly separated the country from the state. He didn’t like the politics of his government. And the musician was never afraid to openly criticize the elite and oligarchs. He always told the truth, because lying to him was like betraying his country.
Instagram / @kuzma.skryabiin Andrei Kuzmenko sincerely loved his people. But at the same time, he saw what vices are peculiar to Ukrainians. The musician tried to eradicate them with words, songs and other unusual projects. From the pen of the master came a lot of acutely social compositions: “Leaf to the presidents”, “Ukra-tsi”, “Warm Winter” and others.
After the 2014 Revolution of Dignity, Scriabin honestly said that he did not trust the authorities or the opposition. But he wholeheartedly supported all Ukrainians who risked their lives for freedom for months. The musician dedicated the song “History” to the events of Euromaidan.
Instagram / @kuzma__.skryabin When the war in the Donbass began, Kuzma was even more active in expressing his political position. He traveled to eastern Ukraine and constantly helped Ukrainian fighters. He often visited wounded soldiers in the hospital to support them.
During his lifetime, Kuzma was constantly engaged in charitable activities. He helped not only the military, but also children who ended up in orphanages. Scriabin died on February 2, 2015 as a result of a car accident. The wife of the musician Svetlana Babiychuk in memory of her husband created the Charity Fund named after Kuzma Scriabin. The case of Andrei Kuzmenko lives to this day.
Instagram / @enjoykharkiv It is said that Kuzma did not become simply by chance. Constantly criticizing the government, the musician made enemies. Maybe they decided to get rid of him. Scriabin was not afraid of anything and just did what his heart told him. For all Ukrainians, the musician became the embodiment of the word “life”.
And although Kuzma Scriabin is no longer alive, he has not ceased to live. I know that today he would be even more proud of his country and every Ukrainian who fights for its freedom. Eternal memory!
