How to arrange a place for reading

How to build the perfect house reading-place? After all, it needs a special, cozy atmosphere. You can read on a chair, sofa, on a park bench, even lying on the grass, but the most comfortable place is a home chair.

It is even better if it is an exclusive library chair. Sitting in the middle of dozens of favorite books, you feel that each of them becomes a part of you. Just imagine how cool it would be on a rainy day to drown in this chair with a cup of tea and a good book!

In an online store of an Italian brand, I saw a library chair with a price tag of five thousand dollars. But, as it turned out, you can realize the dream of a bibliophile with your own hands and much cheaper. To do this, two sheets of plywood, a pair of three bars and a little patience will be enough.

How to make a chair You will need
  • 2 sheets of plywood size 1250 x 2500 mm and thickness 18-20 mm
  • 6 boards with a cross section of 25 x 50 mm and a length of 2.4 m
  • 4 bar with a cross section of 50 x 50 mm and a length of 2.4 m
  • 200 fastening screws 32 mm long
  • 1 bottle of Gorilla tree glue
  • 1 can of paint over wood
  • tip-saw
  • drill, screwdriver
  • kit for connecting on an oblique screw (for example, Kreg MKJKIT Mini Jig Kit)
  • carpentry
  • hammer, roulette and measuring triangle

Progress of work
  1. Cut plywood base width of 106 and depth of 88 cm. At its corners, place guides from a pine bar 74 cm high. It was like a table upside down. At a height of 30 cm from the base layer, connect the guides with a board of 25 x 50 mm.

  2. To attach parts to a plywood platform, use an oblique connection with screws in sweat and glue on wood. Provide accurate drilling at a given angle will help set Kreg Jig Kit or similar.

  3. Then use strips of plywood to build support for the second base layer and secure it with screws and glue.

  4. Now along the entire perimeter of the connecting board at equal intervals install vertical spacers. There should be 5 for the long side of the chair and 4 for the short side (18). The photo shows what the completed sides of the first level should look like.

  5. Set the second base layer. This is a rectangular piece of plywood of the same size as the base, glued to the supporting slats. In the center of the second base layer form a seat. Its width should be 66, and a depth of 72 cm.

  6. Then set the second row of bookshelf cells on top of the lower ones. To fix them, use the same method of joining on an oblique screw and glue. 631139

  7. Cut out pieces of plywood that will cover all three sides around the seat. To fix them in place while the glue dries, use carpentry rods.

  8. In the photo you can see what the finished unpainted chair should look like.

  9. Paint the chair with the chosen color.

  10. Find the right pillows for the seat.
  11. Cozy place to read Ready. Put the books on the shelves. Enjoy reading and a beautiful chair made with your own hands!
