My mother has dreamed of a daughter all her life. Her first two pregnancies brought her sons. She loves my older brothers very much. But after a crucial ultrasound during her third pregnancy, she cried with happiness. For almost 9 months I chose a name for myself.



Ma wanted to name me in a special way to make me stand out. But she had no idea how my name would be combined with my middle name and surname. Let me clarify: my father's name is Vasily, and our surname is Petrenko. Now, my mother called me Tsvetana.

To be honest, I've never heard anyone called that again in my life. As a child, my parents called me Flower. But already in kindergarten, I faced the first problems that my name had prepared for me. I learned later that the name could be changed. But for that, I had to be an adult. I dreamed of the day when I could decide for myself what people would call me. As a teenager, I started fighting with my parents, especially my mother. I wanted to know why she chose such a strange name.



But in response, I heard the same thing: “You should thank us for giving you life with your father!” You have a great name, you just don't get it. Look around, just Mashi da Nastya. Don’t you want to be a special girl? ?

You can fix it. No, I don't want to. I never wanted to. I would give a lot to become that ordinary Masha or Nastya. But I'm Tsvetana Vasilievna, a girl with a cursed name. I told my parents I would change my name when I was 18. They made a real tantrum, said it was bad luck and I would be miserable all my life.



Ha, am I happy right now? Because of my name, I can't make friends with anyone. I'm just afraid I'm going to get rid of again. I’m going to college this year and I want it to be different. At the end of the summer, I will be an adult and finish what I started. I like the name Katya so much... It seems Petrenko Ekaterina Vasilievna sounds much better than Tsvetana. And noblely so!
