Why you don’t want to go back to Cyprus

Every summer the question arises: where to go to relax? My girlfriend and I most like to go to the “foreign” sea, where you can buy and see a new country. Contrary to popular belief, it is not too expensive - you can always find good deals for a budget holiday. One such option is Cyprus - what it is for visiting touristsWe will talk in this article.

We managed to visit Cyprus last July. We were in a resort town called Limassol - ideal for a family relaxing holiday. There are many beautiful sandy beaches, and there is something to see in the city and its surroundings.

We liked our hotel, the level of comfort is not worse than in the rest of Europe. The only drawback is that clean towels were issued every two days, not every day. Maybe that’s just the case at our hotel.

The water in July is quite warm, except that in the morning it is a little cool. The beaches have all the amenities, and sun loungers offer at an affordable price. There are also many good cafes and restaurants in Limassol. I especially like the family restaurants where the whole family works. The local service is pleasantly surprising: low prices and very tasty cuisine.

What can you do in Cyprus? In the morning you can go to the sea, and in the evening go for a walk on the embankment or in the city. By the way, there are many paths near the sea, along which it is pleasant to walk and refresh yourself, enjoying the evening sea breeze. You can also walk around the historical part of Limassol, go to the center, go to local shops. By the way, be sure to visit the bakeries - sweets here are just a snack.

In addition, there are many interesting excursions in Cyprus. I advise you to go to see the bay of Aphrodite - you can swim to the stone and get, according to local legend, eternal youth. Whether the legend is true or not, the result will be visible in a couple of decades. You can also visit the Kikka Monastery, which houses one of the three unique miraculous icons of the Virgin. This place is very popular among Christians, besides the monastery grows the oldest olive tree on earth.

The Turkish part of Cyprus is divided into Turkish and Greek parts, which are separated by the border. In the Turkish part, the same as in the rest of Cyprus, the exception is a different currency and religion. Instead of monasteries, there are mosques, and more Turks than Europeans can be found on the streets. Of the interesting places we recommend to go to the Abbey of Bellapais. There is a long way to go, but there is something exciting about this historic place.

Almost all guides in Cyprus promise more than they can offer. Perhaps they see their country differently: most cultural sites are ruins where something has survived. For example, we were promised to show the ship, but when we came to the museum, we only saw the bottom of it. Also with other places – it is difficult to get because of the heat, and it does not always seem that it is worth it.

It seems that everything in Cyprus is: beaches, sea, delicious food and interesting places. But it's hard for me to say he stands out. Everything is fine and everything is smooth, but there is no highlight. At least we thought so. Perhaps Cyprus will appeal to those who first came to the sea to another country. And so the island did not impress us with something special and unique, the sea is warm and good. Will we go again? I think not. One trip to Cyprus is enough..
